Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan arrived in Agatti, Lakshadweep, on Monday for his maiden visit to the islands and attended an outreach programme organised by the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying. During the visit, the Vice-President released a strategic action plan for India's ornamental fisheries sector titled ‘Mission Rangeen Macchli 2031’.
The initiative aims to streamline the country's ornamental fish industry by establishing uniform standards for breeding, biosecurity, quality control and trade. The action plan is intended to bring greater consistency to practices across the ornamental fisheries sector and support the development of a more organised industry.
