Delhi SIR: S S Sandhu, Vikram Misri Among Senior Officials Flagged Over Electoral Roll Discrepancies

Several senior government officials, including Election Commissioner S S Sandhu and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, have been issued notices during Delhi’s ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

The notices are linked to discrepancies identified during the verification of voter records. Sandhu’s case reportedly involves a mismatch in the spelling of his name in electoral records, while Misri has been listed under the “unmapped with the Last SIR” category, where current voter details could not be linked with records from the previous intensive revision.

Several other serving and retired officials have also appeared in the notice lists, with reasons including name mismatches, parent-name mismatches and lack of mapping with earlier electoral records. The exercise is being conducted as part of the Election Commission’s broader verification of voter details in Delhi.

The Delhi election authorities have clarified that a SIR notice does not by itself mean that a voter’s name has been removed from the electoral roll. Voters receiving such notices can submit the required documents or clarifications to the concerned Electoral Registration Officer or Booth Level Officer. The final decision is to be taken after verification and the prescribed process.

The development has drawn attention because several prominent political leaders, bureaucrats and public figures are among those whose records have been flagged during the revision. The final electoral roll for Delhi is scheduled to be published on November 4, 2026.
