Editorial Analysis
Why This Matters
The expansion of Digi Yatra to international departures could make airport procedures more convenient for eligible passengers. Digital identity verification may reduce repeated manual identity checks at participating airport touchpoints. It also provides an opportunity to assess how biometric technology can support passenger processing across international airport operations. However, the trial remains limited in scope. Its effectiveness, passenger experience and operational requirements will influence future expansion.
The trial is intended to assess the system's performance and collect passenger feedback before a wider rollout is considered in 2027.
