Bihar and Jharkhand on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for sharing the waters of the Sone River in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil, among other officials.

Speaking at the event, Amit Shah said the agreement had resolved a long-standing water dispute between Bihar and Jharkhand, which had continued for nearly 25 years.

According to the Union Home Minister, the agreement will ensure adequate water availability for irrigation and drinking purposes across several districts of Bihar, including Bhojpur, Buxar, Rohtas, Kaimur, Aurangabad, Arwal, Gaya and Patna.
