Mizoram Tourism Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar has highlighted the role of the Anthurium Festival in promoting the state’s tourism potential and creating opportunities for local communities.
The three-day Anthurium Festival 2026 was held from October 1 to 3 at Reiek and nearby Ailawng in Mamit district. The festival returned after a three-year hiatus and brought together horticulture, adventure, indigenous culture, music and community-based tourism.

Organised by the Mizoram Tourism Department in association with the Department of Horticulture, the festival showcased anthurium cultivation along with the state’s natural landscapes, traditional games, local cuisine, handicrafts and cultural performances. Visitors were also offered trekking, cave exploration and village experiences.
Horticulture Minister C. Lalsawivunga attended the inaugural programme as the chief guest. The festival also provided opportunities for local transport operators, homestays, eateries, guides, artisans and flower growers to benefit from increased visitor activity.
