Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma called for forgiveness, non-violence and universal friendship while highlighting the teachings of Lord Mahavira at a ceremony in Ghatkopar, Mumbai.
Speaking at the Collective Forgiveness, World Friendship Day and Jain Ratna Felicitation Ceremony, Governor Varma said Jain principles including truth, non-violence, non-stealing, non-possession and celibacy can contribute to building a peaceful and humane society. He stressed that forgiveness and friendship should extend beyond religious and social boundaries.

Maharashtra Skill Development Minister Mangalprabhat Lodha urged members of the Jain community to participate in government welfare and cleanliness initiatives and extend support to people, farmers and livestock during drought conditions.
