According to officials, terrorists opened fire on two non-local workers in Kelam village of Kulgam district on Friday evening. One of the injured labourers died at the Government Medical College (GMC), Anantnag, on Friday, while the second, who had been referred to SKIMS Srinagar for specialised treatment, succumbed to his injuries on Saturday.
The deceased have been identified as Deepak Rattray (24), son of Uma Shankar, and Bopinder (28), son of Dasrar. Both were residents of Chhattisgarh and were working as migrant labourers in Kashmir.
Soon after the attack, security forces rushed to the area, cordoned off the locality and launched a massive search operation to track down the terrorists involved.
