The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 231.8 kg of suspected methamphetamine tablets in an intelligence-led operation across Assam and Tripura on September 15, 2026.
According to the Ministry of Finance, DRI officers intercepted four trucks suspected of transporting large consignments of methamphetamine tablets at multiple locations.

At Ramnathpur in Assam, around 100 km from Silchar, two suspected trucks were identified. A search of the first truck resulted in the recovery of 55 kg of suspected methamphetamine tablets packed in 275 packets and concealed in the roof of the driver's cabin. The second truck yielded 54.2 kg in 271 packets, also concealed in the cabin roof. The two vehicles were seized and one person was arrested.
In a separate operation at Teliamura in Tripura, DRI officers intercepted a goods carrier travelling from Khowai towards Agartala. The vehicle was carrying a declared cement load. A search resulted in the recovery of 72.6 kg of suspected methamphetamine tablets in 295 plastic packets. The tablets were concealed in the roof of the driver's cabin. The vehicle was seized and its driver was arrested.
Further intelligence led DRI officers to intercept another truck near Panisagar in Tripura. The search resulted in the recovery of 50 kg of suspected methamphetamine tablets, which were also concealed in the vehicle. The truck was seized and its driver was arrested.
