Civil Aviation Minister Debunks Viral Claim on Ethanol Blending with Aviation Fuel

The Union Government has categorically denied viral claims circulating on social media that ethanol will be blended with Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) used in commercial aircraft. Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu termed the reports "completely false and irresponsible," assuring passengers that aviation safety remains the government's highest priority.

In a post shared on social media, Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu clarified that there is no proposal under consideration to blend ethanol with Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF).

The clarification came after misleading posts suggested that the government intended to introduce ethanol-blended aviation fuel, raising concerns among air travellers regarding flight safety.

The Minister said the claims are baseless and urged citizens not to fall for misinformation circulating online.

Ethanol and Sustainable Aviation Fuel Are Different

Mr. Naidu explained that ethanol and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) are entirely different fuels and should not be confused.

He stated that Sustainable Aviation Fuel is an internationally certified aviation fuel recognised by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and adopted by several countries worldwide as part of efforts to reduce aviation emissions.

Unlike ethanol, SAF undergoes extensive scientific testing and meets stringent international aviation safety and quality standards before being approved for commercial use.

Passenger Safety Remains Top Priority

The Civil Aviation Minister reiterated that passenger safety remains the government's highest priority.

He warned that spreading false information related to aviation safety can create unnecessary panic and anxiety among passengers while undermining public confidence in India's aviation sector.

The Minister appealed to social media users to verify information through official government sources before sharing such content.
