The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested an Airtel area distributor in Bihar’s Vaishali district in connection with an alleged illegal SIM Box network linked to cyber-enabled frauds across India.
The agency conducted searches at 10 locations in Vaishali district of Bihar and Jagatsinghpur district of Odisha as part of the investigation. Mobile phones, laptops, SIM cards and other material were recovered during the searches.

The CBI alleges that more than 700 SIM cards were issued fraudulently by the arrested distributor by allegedly misusing credentials associated with multiple Points of Sale outlets in Vaishali. Investigators are also examining whether e-KYC and biometric information of customers was misused to obtain SIM cards without their knowledge.
