Editorial Analysis
Why This Matters
The case highlights the continuing security challenge posed by organised drug trafficking and illegal arms supply in Punjab. The alleged use of drones adds another layer to the investigation as authorities attempt to trace cross-border supply and distribution networks.
The investigation is now focused on establishing the complete backward and forward linkages of the alleged networks, identifying additional persons involved and determining how the consignments were being moved and distributed.
The recovery of heroin, opium and an illegal firearm in the operations has prompted further investigation into the alleged organised supply structure and its links with cross-border smuggling.
Authorities are also examining the alleged use of drones in the movement of consignments, as investigators work to identify the wider network behind the supply chain.
Police said the operation reflects continued efforts to disrupt drug trafficking, illegal arms supply and organised criminal networks operating across the region.
