Eleven people were killed and five others injured after a massive explosion at a firecracker manufacturing unit in Manouri Bazaar under the Pipri police station area of Uttar Pradesh's Kaushambi district on Monday.
The blast occurred in the afternoon and triggered a series of explosions after firecrackers stored inside the factory caught fire. The intensity of the explosion damaged the factory and several nearby houses. District authorities said five injured people who had been shifted to Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital in Prayagraj later succumbed to their injuries, taking the death toll to 11. Five other injured people are undergoing treatment.
