Security forces on Monday launched a joint cordon-and-search operation in the Ramnagar forest area of Udhampur district following inputs about the suspected movement of two unidentified persons, officials said.
A joint team comprising the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Special Operations Group (SOG), Army and other security agencies cordoned off the Jophar area and began searching multiple locations.
According to officials, senior officers are supervising the operation. Security personnel are also conducting vehicle checks in the area as part of the security measures.
The search operation is based on intelligence inputs concerning suspected movement in the forest area. Security forces are continuing searches to locate the individuals and assess any potential security threat.
Residents in and around Jophar have been asked to cooperate with the security personnel and report any suspicious or unusual activity.
