India and China held their first Senior Highest Military Commander-Level Flag Meeting in the eastern sector along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), with meetings taking place at the Wacha-Damai border meeting points in Arunachal Pradesh on September 6 and 7. The development was confirmed by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the commander-level meeting was held pursuant to understandings reached between the Special Representatives of India and China in August 2025 and August 2026, followed by discussions under the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination (WMCC). He also said that a similar mechanism exists in the Western Sector.
