Mahindra & Mahindra has launched the updated three-door Thar in India, giving its popular lifestyle SUV a more comprehensive update than a conventional facelift. The refreshed model is officially called the Mahindra Thar OG and is priced from ₹10.32 lakh to ₹18.99 lakh, ex-showroom.
The latest Thar is the second major update to the three-door model in just over a year. Along with cosmetic changes, Mahindra has introduced mechanical and structural upgrades aimed at improving the SUV's ride, steering, performance, safety and off-road capability.

One of the biggest changes is the adoption of Mahindra's M_Glyde 4G platform, which the company says offers greater structural stiffness. The Thar OG also gets a new rear Penta-link suspension with a Watts Link and Frequency Dependent Damping technology on the top-spec version.
For the first time, the three-door Thar also gets electric power steering instead of the previous hydraulic setup. The change is designed to make low-speed manoeuvring and parking easier.
The engine lineup continues with three powertrains. The 1.5-litre diesel produces 119hp and 300Nm, while the 2.2-litre diesel now produces 152hp and 330Nm. The 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine develops 162hp and 330Nm. The larger diesel and petrol engines therefore receive increases in both power and torque compared with the outgoing model.

The Thar OG features a redesigned grille, new LED headlamps with C-shaped daytime running lights, LED fog lamps with cornering functionality, revised bumpers and new alloy wheels. The top-spec version gets 19-inch alloys, while two new exterior colours — Artemis Silver and Jeans Blue — join the existing palette.
Inside, the updated Thar receives additional convenience features, including a 10.25-inch touchscreen on higher trims, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, cruise control, a colour MID, rear wiper and washer, and a wireless charger on the top-spec ZXT variant.
Safety equipment has also been expanded. The top-spec ZXT can be equipped with six airbags, all-round disc brakes, tyre-pressure monitoring, a rear-view camera and front parking sensors. Electronic stability control with rollover mitigation is available from the base AXT trim upward.
The Thar OG is offered in three trims — AXT, LXT and ZXT. The entry-level AXT starts at ₹10.32 lakh, while the range-topping ZXT 2.2-litre diesel automatic with four-wheel drive is priced at ₹18.99 lakh, ex-showroom.
